$2,000 to Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile
Sarnia, ON – Union Gas is helping Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile (CCMF) continue to deliver programs that identify and meet the special needs of medically fragile community members and their families, through a $2,000 grant awarded today.
Greg Wagner, Union Gas utility service manager for Sarnia, presented the cheque to Laurel Boychuk, CCMF secretary, today at the organization’s office in Sarnia.
CCMF is a local, parent driven community group whose group home, Standing Oaks, offers respite care for parental relief. CCMF’s service van also provides transportation for medically fragile individuals.
“At Union Gas, we believe in investing in our communities to make them even better places to work and live,” said Wagner. “That’s why we’re so pleased to support Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile and the work they do to improve the quality of life for citizens in the Sarnia Lambton area.”
CCMF’s public education chair and board member, Darcy Winch, commented, “CCMF is honoured and humbled to be receiving this generous grant from Union Gas. Without the support of local industry and the community at large, our goals would be nothing but distant dreams. Our organization assists a population of medically fragile individuals who have intense needs and Union Gas’ donation is sincerely appreciated.”

Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile (CCMF) was established in 1990 by a group of concerned parents of medically fragile children. Their hope was to build a fully serviced home to care for their children instead of long term care at an institution. Their fully serviced home, Standing Oaks, was built in 2004 after exhaustive fundraising, dedication, and community support.
